Invest In Our Planet Eart Day 2022

Earth Day 2022 Poster in Collaboration with Dreams of Children Music Group, LLC

It's Earth Day and I'd like to celebrate with an illustration poster design that I created in collaboration with Dreams of Children Music Group, LLC. As an intern for Dreams of Children, while at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I wanted to focus primarily on creating designs with the company to show how businesses can help climate change.

The 2022 theme for Earth Day is Invest In Our Planet. Climate change is not only an individualistic endeavor, but a collective one, too. Businesses may be wondering "what can we do about climate change?"

Here's a background on what climate change is according to NASA:

"Direct observations made on and above Earth’s surface show the planet’s climate is significantly changing. Human activities are the primary driver of those changes......Human activities (primarily the burning of fossil fuels) have fundamentally increased the concentration of greenhouse gases in Earth’s atmosphere, warming the planet. Natural drivers, without human intervention, would push our planet toward a cooling period."

Here are a few ways in which your business can help climate change:

  1. Manage Waste and Recycle
  2. Buying Smart
  3. Limited Energy Consumption

Managing Waste and Recycling

Having a well thought out waste management plan is key. The United States Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has a plethora of information regarding various waste management practices. Visit https://www.epa.gov/.

Buy Smart

Sustainable purchases can save money and reverse the environmental impact. Office Depot's GreenerOffice offers sustainable office supplies. According to Office Depot they're green service offers an "assortment includes thousands of high-quality, eco-conscious products with eco-attributes and eco-labels to help you reduce your environmental impact. Shop everything from greener cleaning products and recycled paper to furniture, technology and more. Put your green goals in motion and count on us for everything you need to purchase green and succeed sustainably."

Limit Energy Consumption

The Department of Energy recommends a variety of ways that businesses can reduce their energy consumption. Visit https://www.energy.gov.

If you're a small business, there are ways to reduce your energy consumption, too. Visit https://www.constellation.com/  to see an extended list of tips.
