My Illustration Process for A Children's Book Sample

I recently was given an opportunity to create a children's book sample. I definitely had fun with this project. I've almost gotten my illustration process down, which begins with reference photography, sketching and then taking the best sketch and elaborating on it. Once the sketch is selected, I transfer it to a sheet of Arches 140 lb Cold Press paper. 
The client provided reference photos for me to work with and here's the outcome:
I created 3 value scales to showcase the color scheme and to see if the chosen colors were balanced.
