Hi! It's a new year and I have a new illustration to share. I call this illustration, "Pets". I love birds and I have had my fair share of them. So, this piece was inspired by my love of parakeets.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I wanted to spotlight mental health awareness in children with an illustration and a poem. The 2022 theme for Mental Health Awareness Month, according to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), is "Together for Mental Health."
I've almost gotten my illustration process down, which begins with reference photography, sketching and then taking the best sketch and elaborating on it. Once the sketch is selected, I transfer it to a sheet of Arches 140 lb Cold Press paper.
